WELCOME TO JAZZRECIPES.COM
What exactly are jazz recipes?
Many jazz musicians like to cook. I don’t know why this should be, perhaps the food at gigs is so bad they need to make something decent when they get home from a hard nights work. Jazz musicians love to cook for other people too, and are very proud of their cooking. Often there is a secret ingredient, sometimes there is a variation - a bit like jazz music, you never expect the same thing twice. Lester Young, the great jazz tenor saxophonist once said "I try not to be a repeater pencil."
Apart from the very hot & spicy dishes, you might find that these recipes are also very popular with children.
I don’t play jazz, can I still add recipes?
You don’t need to be a jazz musician or even a jazz fan to cook jazz. All you need is to understand the spontaneity and freedom of this style of cooking. It can be a tasty soup, a sandwich, a barbecue sauce or something a little dangerous and unexpected. All you need to do is keep formality and snobbishness out of it and keep an open mind.
All in a Good Cause
One of the aims of the site is to make money for my charity fundraising activities. All advertising revenue will go into this fund as well as any donations you are kind enough to make in order to make it worth my effort keeping the site going. Businesses are welcome to sponsor the site and will get links, individuals can gain a little bit of fame by having their recipe featured (in return for a small - or large) donation.
Currently the funds are going to APEC and Leukaemia Busters. My other sites have raised over £8000 this year. More details on the donations page of my main site
How do I add my recipes?
Easy. The Recipes page is in the style of a discussion forum. All you need do is register with a username and password, and you can post your recipes. People can then respond with comments. Once there enough members we can have a poll to vote for the dish of the month.
Can I upload pictures of my recipes?
Yes certainly. In fact you are encouraged to do this.
